Will Midi mixer work woth iControl for Garageband?

Hi, I've come across a unit of the "M-audio iControl for Garageband" MIDI-controller. It's an oldie, probably, but would suit me fine as a general controller for volumes and shortcuts.

In this review I found, it specifically states that it may not play well with anything other than GarageBand. But I assume that's regarding use out of the box, and not DIY like MIDI-mixer would be.

Will this device work with MIDI-mixer, you guys think?

Checking the manual it seems like it communicates as midi over USB:
If it does then that would be all midi mixer needs to work with it.
